Dying to be Loved

Our “little one”, Keiden, turned 6 weeks old today…  We can hardly remember life before him... and can barely imagine life without him...  We love him so much...and are so grateful to God... who gave him to us...

Keiden dressed in his Sunday best for church this morning... at one point in the service I turned my head and saw a pediatrician... it crossed my mind that I should ask him about a little rash Keiden has on his face... when all of a sudden I had a very vivid flashback...

I was holding a baby... the same size as Keiden... only this baby was 5 months old instead of 6 weeks.. What I remember was his hands although it was probably spread all over his body... They were covered with a horrible skin problem...  Thick, scaly... very ugly...  The little guy was lethargic... didn’t move around, kick or coo...

Waiting

Well… here we are...waiting ...

A student at El Jordan who was due a couple weeks after me already had her baby a week and a half ago… so that makes it seem like I’m late… although I’m not actually “due” until this Saturday (the 16th).

My doctor was a bit worried about some irregularity in the heartbeat of the baby that came with some tightening of my uterus… that she thinks is due to me feeling so good that I still want to race around… so for the baby’s sake, I’m trying to be “quieter”… although that isn’t easy for me…  Last night we had another appointment with her and she was happy with how everything sounded… my blood pressure etc… so all we have to do is WAIT!

Updates on Ruth and Patricia

In my last update, I said that I would try to write more about Patricia… who, after chapel, I dropped off at a corner with her three kids and big bag of bananas where we  thought a bus would pick her up…  A couple hours later, she was still waiting…  I took her home – one room made of tarp and tin… We carried the sleepy kids through mucky water to get to her “home” - which I never saw because it was pitch black…  It broke my heart to leave them in the darkness while I went home… to comfort… a bathroom, shower, warmth and bed…

I met Patricia not long after she arrived in jail with her two small kids…  For a while, she showed interest in learning about the Bible and God… but the struggle of being alone… with her two kids.... and no visitors won over… and she began avoiding me while starting a relationship with someone in men’s jail…

She Didn't Want to Lose Her Job - An Update

Thank you so much for praying for Ruth…  I went to see her on Monday at noon to see how the surgery had gone… and they hadn’t touched her because they didn’t see any money…  They were requiring that the majority of the operation be paid for BEFORE surgery happened…  The doctors were pressuring that she find money because the more time passed, the more danger there was for the infection to continue spreading…  The doctors had decided to first do a thorough cleaning under general anesthetic to see how everything was and to cut out any dead matter or infection…  Ruth nor her family had much money… on the Sunday when they took Ruth into emergency, they had to sell their propane tank (that they use for their stove)… Today when the nurses sent Ruth’s boyfriend out with a prescription saying that it was urgent, Ronald came back wearing plastic sandals… he had sold his shoes to buy the medicines…
