Merry Christmas from El Jordán

Merry Christmas everyone!

Last week, sitting on the curb, my heart was heavy… Rosario is only 13.… already covered in scars… some open and oozing… some self-inflicted… others, reminders of the harshness of life… Countless scars on the outside… outnumbered only by the unseen ones, on the inside. My mind flew back to the first time I saw someone cutting themselves… his tears mixed with the blood that dripped on the sidewalk… “They look my dog away…” He was older, a street person… and someone had taken away his dog, his companion… his family…

That was 20 years ago… I could almost feel his pain, in the blood, steadily drip, drip, dripping… each drop of life - a silent cry of anguish, agony…. As I looked at Rosario´s “marks”… I know there is a story for every cut… Her glue bottle came out… the glue numbs the pain… but doesn´t take it away…

Take her to a kids´ home, Hermana Corina.” I took a closer look… surprised to find out she was a girl… Her “boy look” apparently started 3 years ago, her “protection” when she found herself living with a group of older street kids when her mom was in jail the first time…

A Glimps of El Jordán

Hi everyone… Here we are, less than a week away from Christmas!!! Yikes!!!

I´ve started a long overdue update… but while it is waiting to be finished, I thought I´d send you this link for a video made up by a team from Eastridge Evangelical Missionary Church (Stouffville, Ontario) that came to help us for 10 days… You can see glimpses of: El Jordán, the way we do teams, our property, our chapel meeting, Marco N.´s home with his “special” boys, our girls and their families….and more!

If you´ve never come to see it for yourself, maybe this will encourage you to think about it!!! Enjoy!!

A little clarification: the “El Jordán property” at the end of the video is actually “The Pilgrim´s Refuge”, our property in the country that we sometimes talk about… It’s the place we go to breathe and relax… and also the place we have been blessed with to share with our El Jordan family and others… (Come and visit us!!!)

WELL DONE EASTRIDGE TEAM!!! Thanks for your hearts of service… for your help and encouragement to us… Wai – great work on the video! We could use your help at El Jordan too!!!!

Have a great week!!! Praise HIM for the greatest Gift ever!!!

Lots of love, Corina… for Marco, Keiden and Marlee…

A Reminder of God's Greatness

Rosaly's Tree

Just a quick note to say “Thank you!” to everyone who helped Rosaly´s wish come true!!!

Here is a picture of Rosi´s tree… a reminder of God´s faithfulness to her and her girls – covering the wall in her living room.… Thanks to all of you who have encouraged, helped, prayed… and made her little house possible… we can still put more pictures up if you haven´t sent your picture in yet!!!

More pictures are coming!

(There are still some things to be done on the house… after all that the program pushed, bullied and intimidated Rosaly to get her house done, they still haven´t brought her windows… besides those windows she just has a bit more tiling to be done inside, a bit more work in the bathroom and the back yard still needs some more fill… and then it is done… Sunday was their first night sleeping in their house!!)

Have a great week!

Love and thanks…

From Corina for all of us!!!

Rosi´s House ... Just One More Thing

Rosaly asked for "one more thing..." for her new house... She has one bed, no fridge or stove ... Guess what she asked for?

You can read Heidi´s letter below... and please help make her dream come true...

Thank you for everyone who has come along side of Rosaly - through your prayers, work or giving... God has provided incredibly... everything has been covered. The new date (there have been about 10 different dates...) for the "official" handover of the house is set for Monday, October 3rd...
(although all the delays have allowed Rosaly to get all the things done around her home....) A few short weeks ago, we were at Rosi´s house when the supervisor came through and gave her an official (OVERWHELMING) To-Do list of everything that had to be complete in the next 10 days... the roof, floors, septic tank, plastering, painting, bringing up the level of the yard, gardens, walkway out front, plumbing, electrical wiring, doors on, etc... etc... etc... We encouraged Rosi that "it could be done!" but inwardly we wondered how it would be possible... Wow... it was possible!!!! Thanks to God... and you...
