Survival - An Update From El Jordán

I´ve known María Eugenia since she was only a couple months old… in her mom´s arms… on the streets… That was about 19 years ago… You might not recognize her name or her nickname… “Mamuka”… but you just MIGHT remember me telling a story about her… a story that 17 years later, still touches my heart…

Back then, social services wasn´t as active and babies and children would grow up beside their parents on the streets… I can close my eyes and see little Mamuka… dirty cheeks… blue corduroy overalls… two years old… living on the back side of a downtown market in Santa Cruz. It was as much home to her as anywhere else...

A Little Look at El Jordán

Today was another milestone for our family… both Keiden and Marlee are in school… third grade and kindergarten… Wow… it’s hard to believe… They are in a school (Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center) run by South American Mission… We appreciate the opportunity they have to go to a school where they have teachers that love God and want to encourage their students towards a growing relationship with Christ…  Pray for the school… that God would protect them and provide all of their needs…  For us, this privilege comes with the challenge of a lot of driving… especially since Marlee only goes half days…

A very quick update on a few people you were praying for:

Little Kevin Marco who was born with a cleft lip has already been to see the doctors from “Operation Smile”!  There is a possibility that he will be operated on in October… but it will most likely be in the following set of operations whenever that is ... Another answer to prayer is that Matilde shows a real love for her precious little one… and a desire to care and provide for him ... Pray for Matilde as she goes with her little baby to “watch cars” (making sure no one steals anything from your car when it is parked) and to wash clothes (for other people ...) ...  She has had some health concerns related to her cesarean…

Little Leyla… is doing well ... She is back home from the hospital again ... and her mom and dad are learning to take care of her health concerns ...

More Prayer Requests

There are a couple people I would like you to pray specifically for:

Yesterday BABY LEYLA was taken into the hospital again and operated on for the second time in her short weeks of life… There was a complication in the connection to the colostomy bag… Although not life threatening, this has been disappointing and scary for Ana Karen… Please pray for them…

* * *

When someone puts their faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He paid the price for their ransom, they pass from darkness to light… from death to life… from lost to found… from Satan´s family to God´s family… from guilty to forgiven… Amazing…

Catch Up - Do You Remember?

Often I share bits and pieces of stories… verbal snapshots that hopefully you can close your eyes and picture… trusting that God touches your hearts to care… and pray…

Their stories continue…ups and downs… very little “ordinary”…

You probably imagine those people like the “snapshot” you saw…

Here are some updated “pictures”…

Do you remember ROSALY… and her four daughters? …struggling to finish their little house before the government project took it away? SO many people prayed, gave… came together to haul dirt, stones, bricks… dig holes, paint, encourage, put in the grass… and on and on… The house was completed… the government people who came to do the final check applauded her accomplishment, admiring the little extras…and seemed more interested in the “tree” of pictures on the wall than in anything else…

However, sometimes our focus can be so intent on the urgent that other needs get overlooked… festering and brewing… growing into urgent needs…
