She Didn't Want to Lose Her Job - An Update

Thank you so much for praying for Ruth…  I went to see her on Monday at noon to see how the surgery had gone… and they hadn’t touched her because they didn’t see any money…  They were requiring that the majority of the operation be paid for BEFORE surgery happened…  The doctors were pressuring that she find money because the more time passed, the more danger there was for the infection to continue spreading…  The doctors had decided to first do a thorough cleaning under general anesthetic to see how everything was and to cut out any dead matter or infection…  Ruth nor her family had much money… on the Sunday when they took Ruth into emergency, they had to sell their propane tank (that they use for their stove)… Today when the nurses sent Ruth’s boyfriend out with a prescription saying that it was urgent, Ronald came back wearing plastic sandals… he had sold his shoes to buy the medicines…

She Didn't Want to Lose Her Job

I know, I just wrote… but this one won’t be that long!  I promise!!!!

I wanted to ask you to please pray for one of our students…  Ruth…  I’ve known her for 12 years or so… from the streets as a teenager – who seemed so young and not too “deep” into the streets yet…  I remember urging her to go back home…  Then she got pregnant… the father – a street kid (Sueno mediano – middle sized Sleepy… some of you might remember the “Sleepy” brothers)…  This only tightened the ties to the streets… which led her down the road to jail… where her second child was born…  The father of her second and third kids died – street related stuff…  …and when Ruth got out of jail, she started coming to El Jordan…

She has amazing talent for handcrafts… crochet especially… She does amazing work… dress sets etc for little baby girls… etc…

Would You Come to Chapel?

We have “chapel” on the last Friday evening of the month... in a desire to help bridge the gap between “our kids” and the local church...  and in an effort to reach their family members.

In our yearly planning, we discussed our chapel...   Our students mentioned two main reasons why it was hard for them to make it... bus fare and getting home at night...  Although we try to get done by 8:30 p.m., transportation is still a problem.  Living on the fringes of the city means that some of our students have to take two buses,,,  Complicating matters further are bus drivers who will avoid picking up an adult with a bunch of kids who don’t pay full fare but take up space... Some girls wait so long to get picked up by the first bus that by the time they get to the second bus it might be too late, too full and too difficult to be picked up (with a group of kids)...

Pictures ... In Case You Didn't Believe It!

Well… we have a hard time believing that its true… but when I see my belly growing (it is now much bigger than the pictures, sigh) and my pants don’t fit I realize that all this is REALLY happening to us…  Wow…

We went to another doctors appointment on March 5th… and everything seems to be fine… the baby is growing… His little head was almost 8 cms across… and his little femur is 6 cm long…  According to a formula using the size of the baby’s belly, he was weighing almost 1.7 kilograms already… and should be adding another quarter kilo every week from now on… (What does that mean for MY belly?  Oh dear!)
