Well... you must have prayed “good” because we saw answers to prayer!!! =) THANK YOU!!!
My head feels like it has been spinning all week... and we haven’t even started the fair yet!!! I told you that the managers gave us a spot in an outdoor area specifically for artisans... it is very tiny – only 1 meter by 1 ½ meters... and its outside... but it’s a spot!
THEN... on Tuesday we got a call from the organizers of the free pavilion – the two secretaries there like us =) and insisted that “El Jordán couldn’t be left out”... We had been given a spot...
Now what should I do? Now that we had a spot, was it right, fair to still take the one the managers gave us? Well... I felt like I needed to let them know... maybe they’d say we’d have to give it back... or maybe we’d be able to keep the two... Well... the manager said to find out how big the other space was... and choose the one that was best for us... and let him know on Thursday afternoon... Hmm... we wanted to keep the artisan space... but we felt for the long term, it would be better to keep our foot in the door with the free pavilion...
I spent hours this afternoon waiting to talk to the manager... wondering if there is a way to PAY for the stand... (so that we could keep the two spots because we still didn’t know what size of space we were getting in the free pavilion...but was imagining that it was pretty small...) Then I overhear that the spaces in the artisan area have been oversold – 8 people have to be left out... I wonder if I’m one of the ones going to be left out... since I hadn’t paid anything... and I had told them I had another spot... Then I get a call from Heidi at about 4:30 p.m. - our space is a meter wide WALL!!! ...not even floor space unless we jut out into the walkway... YIKES!!! Now I was really nervous about maybe not even having a chance to PAY for the artisan spot... The poor manager had a group of maybe 20 people following him around everywhere... Heidi and I included... To make a long afternoon short... he called us over to ask what kinds of things we had to sell... and pointed out our spot!!! He never asked any questions... nor did we offer any explanations... We have our spot (and our meter of wall!!!!)...
We are SO, SO thankful for our spot (we don’t really consider the wall a “spot”)... and do appreciate your prayers... We will need to buy two 10 day passes ($US 55 each) in order to get our volunteers in... and some bus and taxi fares for volunteers going home later at night... but it is still such a blessing to have a place to sell our students’ stuff... THANKS for praying!!!
Dayana was also discharged from the hospital on Tuesday... a lot sooner (and therefore cheaper) than expected... She’ll be on strong antibiotics for 10 more days... and then get blood work done to see how her kidney is doing... Thank you for praying...
Now that you’ve done such a good job of praying for these requests, maybe you can pray that Marco would be able to get cement for the construction... for the third time, 6 men have slept in a line overnight to have the privilege of buying 5 – 10 bags of cement each... Last night they stayed there from 10 p.m. until 10 or so in the morning... and were only able to get 20 bags total... It sounds like a joke, “How many men (and hours) does it take to buy cement...” 6 men... and 12 hours (each time)... Unfortunately it’s not a joke... SO... if you could pray... =)
Please pray that God would honor our students who have been working SO hard to prepare... One of our newer girls (Tania M.) only knows how to make ONE thing... but she’s been working hard at them... and I think sometimes her kids go without in order for her to buy her materials... home life has been really horrible for her these last couple weeks... so... if you can specifically pray that TANIA M.’s change purses would sell that would be wonderful...
Well... I better get to bed... because the next 10 days everyone at El Jordan (and poor Keiden) get stretched to their limits...
Thank you, thank you...
Lots of love, from Corina... for Marco... Keiden... and everyone else too!
P.S. Sorry... I forgot something... MOST of our girls have NO trouble getting pregnant (we wish they did!!!) Another baby was born on Tuesday (to Katty and Roly for those who know them!)... and another baby due any day (to Marina and Wildo)...
Well... Ana has wanted another baby for a long time... she and Maximo got married a year and a bit ago... their only boy is 9 years old... and now she is 2 ½ months pregnant or so... She started bleeding tonight... and they are so afraid they have lost their “very tiny one”... They have to go in early tomorrow morning for an ultrasound and see what is going on... (They were sent home tonight for some reason...)
Please pray for Ana... Maximo... and if it is God’s will, that this little one would defy odds... and survive... Thanks... Corina
