Last Wednesday, Claudia, our volunteer dentist from El Jordan, asked to come with me on my rounds to our families to deliver donations of vegetables… This is a little note and some stories from her
perspective from that experience.
My dear brothers and sisters,
I want to give my thanks to each and every one of you for giving to help so many families with groceries, diapers, milk – people who in many cases didn’t have anything to eat that day – and the help arrived just when they most needed it. We thank God for your lives and the great love and mercy that He put in your hearts. I want to encourage you not to tire of doing good and to listen to the sweet voice of the Father, talking to us through His Word.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18
Thank you very, very much. The Lord is not indebted to anyone. I know He will repay your kindnesses and will bless your homes! We arrived at Alejandra’s house very early, who (most likely) has coronavirus. Katherine came to the gate, the petite 9 year old who had to shoulder the care of her mom and little sisters. She was very excited about getting veggies. She was going to cook a vegetable soup for her mom. For us who have small children or nieces and nephews, it is hard to see this tough reality. She was very mature in understanding that all of her family needed to have good defenses to not get sick. Little darling! May God take care of you so you don’t burn yourself and protect your little fingers and give you wisdom as you prepare the food. God, let us not grow weary of doing good! …and let’s pray for Katherine’s family!
As you can see, there is so much need. May the Lord continue putting in our hearts the desire to keep on helping. Let’s not grow weary!!!
What good is it, my brothers and sisters,
if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?
Can such faith save them?
Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.
If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,”
but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
In the same way, faith by itself,
if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds,
and I will show you my faith by my deeds. James 2:14-18
It is difficult for me to tell this following story without my tears falling. Today we visited two teenage girls. We went to leave them some food. Their little house is very, very far away… near the bush. They are separated from their mom because of their dad, who is an addict who abused their mom in different ways. In the end, their mom abandoned the house with her youngest three children. That same day, nearing nightfall, we arrived to the house where the mom is staying. She couldn’t stop crying for her girls. I can’t imagine the pain there must be in her heart, worried about her girls, if they might be in danger, if they have enough to eat. The Lord provided food for them today through your gifts… but I think what she needs even more right now are our prayers. I can’t imagine how God can fix this problem, but I know He can. I know that with the vegetables we dropped off, that pain in her heart was eased a tiny bit. Please, pray that God would heal her hurts and change the heart of her husband!
Maricruz’ mom is blind from her diabetes and we found her laying in a bed. But is there something that can hold back a mom from not feeling like a burden and wanting to help her daughter in some way –
who sells rice bread to sustain the household during this time? I imagine that the grandma, not wanting to be a burden, tried to get out of bed by herself, and doing so, hit her left eye, which has caused her great pain that regular analgesics do not calm. She has been in so much pain that she can´t sleep. If there isn´t money to buy food to eat, there definitely isn´t money to take her to a specialist. With tears in her blind eyes, the grandma thanked us for the gift of vegetables and food that you made possible through your offerings. Let´s pray to our loving Lord, who is All Powerful, that He places His healing hand on this grandma.
Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity,
let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9-10
Dear brothers and sisters…. We have so many reasons to pray! We really should be on our knees the whole day long! In first place, thanking God for everything He has given us – His care, protection and provision. I feel so fortunate to have a roof over my head and a bed.
Love from, Claudia
