Just one minute ... it can make a difference!!

Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at the head of every street. Lamentations 2:19 NIV

Could you give just one minute this weekend to “lift up your hands to God for the lives of children at risk”?  The“World Wide Weekend of Prayer for Children at Risk” was started by the Viva Network back in 1995... Last year over 2 million people took time to be sensitive to this issue that is so close to God’s heart...  Christ showed his heart several times for children while needy, hungry, poor people were chosen repeatedly as a theme in the Bible.  So... put the two together... children - at risk – and you’ve found something undoubtedly important to God.

Gardenia brought 9 year old Joel to El Jordán, in hopes that we could get him into a kids home to “solve” his many problem... God once again showed me a glimpse of his marvellous grace for children at risk... but before I tell you more about Joel, I’ve copied some information from the Viva Network’s webpage so maybe we can join them in their effort to come together before God to intercede for our world’s needy “little ones”...

Reflections for Mother's Day

Thanks to everyone who has been praying for us... and El Jordan... I’ve noticed some changes in attitudes and things seem to be improving somewhat... please continue to pray for wisdom... and the right words to say at the right time!!!  Thanks so much...

Limping...

I’ve been trying to figure out where things went wrong... At the end of last year at El Jordan there was an underlying heaviness, not visible to all... but felt by the core group of workers...  At the end of any year we’re all pretty tired - finishing up things, “Christmas on the Streets” etc... but this year it was more than just tiredness... and our two/three week break wasn’t going to solve it...  There was a mixture of things - health issues... family pressures... interpersonal misunderstandings... hard feelings... little things that bothered people that gradually grew into festering sores...  Not pretty.... not what we want for our ministry... and above all... not pleasing to God...

Things came to a head a few days before Christmas – we started trying to unravel the knots to find the root of it all... but for the most part, it had to be put on hold until the new year...

God and Mery Had a Chat

Well... it has been a long time... it sounds like a lame excuse (but it is true!!!), we have been plagued with computer/internet/phone problems on and off for basically 6 weeks...  I think it is my Achilles tendon... and the enemy knows how to get me uptight... me being quite illiterate computer/technology wise... sigh... but I think everything is back in order... so I wanted to send a quick note to let you know that we are alive and well...

There have been so many things I’ve wanted to share with you... and ask for your prayers... but I haven’t been able to... This weekend I will try and write an update about how El Jordán is doing...
