Well… I´m here packing… and all of a sudden I remembered something…
A friend of mine here (whose parents were friends with my parents here in Bolivia before I was born) has a little boy (5 years old) who was born healthy but at 4 months of age had complications with his reflux something or other… and since then has stayed at that mental development age… so he can´t sit, talk, move very much at all… he has been on oxygen most of his life, he has a terrible time with phlegm in his lungs… and he can´t even swallow his spit… His parents used to be involved in full time ministry but with the medical needs of their son, the dad had to find a new job (in Compassion International) and they also moved to Santa Cruz where the ¨thicker” air would be better for him…
Little Joel feeds through a G-tube… and here in Bolivia they have only been able to find temporary G-tubes that only last days or weeks… The one they bring from other countries lasts for 4 months… They just changed his tube… and it’s the last one they have…
SO… if anyone of you (or maybe someone you know) has the possibilities of getting one (some would be even better) could you let me know? They are willing to pay… and they´ve asked the favor of me looking for the tube when I´m back in Canada… I was just going to pack the package label they gave me when I thought I better write right away just in case my bag gets lost with the label in it!
The details are: Kimberly-Clark MIC-KEY Low Profile Gastrostomy Feeding Tube 16 FR, 1.2 cm
The kids and I will be in Canada until August 6th in case someone can send one to my parents´ house…
Another something… my travel agent called at 7 this evening to say that there was a mixup with our tickets… and they had been annulled… They were going to do the online checking for me when they found out… We were supposed to leave tomorrow at 4 p.m. The flights that we were supposed to be on are completely full… It is high season so 4 openings on the same flight (Heidi is travelling with us) are next to impossible to find…
SO… you can pray that something would open up… that this would be solved without changing our plans too much…
If we are delayed, I´ll have a chance to write a little update on the ministry here… Yesterday there were 140 out to our monthly chapel meeting… and today we had an inter-church soccer tournament to raise money for Christmas on the Streets… There are lots of things going on… not necessarily activities, but a lot happening in the lives of our girls…
Thanks for your prayers… Hope to be able to visit as many of you as possible during our time in Canada…
God is Faithful… (even if we miss our flight!)
Corina
