Marco and Eulogio went to pick up a donation from a well known restaurant today… Eulogio was taken through the kitchen… and drooled over the whole roasted pig on the counter… countless salads… all kinds of meat… ymmm…
Our donation? Used oil… bits of fat that can be boiled down for lard… pieces of tongue (the parts they don’t use for their specialty)… pieces of boiled pig skin… scraps of mixed meat/bones/fat… left over bones taken out of a soup and a few duck necks!!!
Well… it ended up being a prize for all the girls that came to class today… Even the teacher took home some oil! We gave the girls all plastic bags, divided it all up… they were thrilled!!! One of them thought she might even munch on some on her way home…
Mery was especially thankful… With four kids under her care now her burden is heavy… The specialist for the sore on her leg would like to do a skin graft … so Mery needs to rest her leg… and to follow doctors’ orders – twice a day she has to scrub her wound with sugar… and then lemon!!! OOOWWWW!!!! Please continue to pray for Mery, that the skin graft would be the answer to this 13 year old open wound so she can work again.
Tania was also very thankful for the “treats” – she has 5 of her own children… and for the last couple weeks she has taken 3 neighbour kids into her house (2 rooms) – because the mom is seriously ill in the hospital, the husband is by her side… and the kids were being shuffled from house to house until they landed at Tania’s…
Mónica had to borrow 2 bolivianos (30 cents) for her bus fare home… so to be able to go home with food was a bonus…

Yesterday I felt like we were finally getting our feet back under us… I celebrated by taking my truck in for its oil change and asked them to look into something strange that I had been feeling… In the end the mechanic said I might need a motor job… With a lot of luck we might be able to fix it by only changing blah, blah, blah if the compression test (blah, blah, blah) on the motor comes out okay…” Oh dear!
Forget hoping for “a lot of luck”… I started praying very hard… (In my devotional for the girls today we talked about Isaac praying for 20 years for a child… i was hoping I wouldn’t have to pray that long!) In the end there is no need to open the motor up but they still have to do something or other… (and fix my radiator that is leaking)…
Well… when i saw the girls excited about taking home scraps… it made feel bad for complaining about my “hardships”… because they pale in comparison to other people’s struggles… Katty seemed very sad in my class this morning… Her “husband” has been drinking a lot… and he didn’t come home after work yesterday… This afternoon she found him back on the streets… She’s pregnant with her fourth child…
Rosita’s mom and brother died on the streets… her “family” is little Trini Lucille – her four year old who has a speech impediment that Rosa wonders if it is from being on the streets, doing so many drugs when she was pregnant… She has been working as a maid - where Trini to be with her… It has been enough to make ends meet… but she was told yesterday that there has been a family crisis, they are going to travel… and there is only work for Rosita until Saturday… Finding a job that allows her to care for 4 year old Trini isn’t easy…
My lesson for today… Corina… learn to be content… and trust… even with the trials God allows in your life… because those trials are to sandpaper us and perfect us. In every situation that comes through El Jordán’s door – Katty, Rosita, Mery, Monica - I need to be encouraging them to lean on the Lord to see them through… We need to have wisdom to know how to be God’s hands and feet in each situation….
Lots of things are happening at the boy’s workshops… construction etc… One of these days Marco wanted to tell you all about it… so I’ll leave that for him…
Please help us pray for our girls… especially for chapel tomorrow night – for the Word of God to be presented clearly… and for people to be drawn close to Him...
Thanks so much!!! Your prayers, support and notes are an encouragement to us… and to the girls…
Have a content day… =)
Because HE IS FAITHFUL…
Corina for Marco and Keiden…
