Well... the many things I want to still share with you will once again be put on the back burner because I would like to ask you to PLEASE pray for two things from El Jordan:
1. Dayana is the 11 year old daughter of Adela – one of our students... She has had fevers, pain and vomiting since Monday... Her teacher told her she was just being lazy (she doesn’t do very well at all in school... she has such a difficult time with retention... I celebrated with her the other day because she got a 40 (36 is between passing and failing)... she usually gets 20s...) Anyhow... her mom washes clothes for other people and her step-father drives a tractor for someone – but it is broken down right now... so they finally got enough money together to take her to the doctor yesterday... and we paid for the blood tests and medicines... Her blood test came back today with the white blood count really high... and we were sent to get an ultrasound... back to another doctor... She already had her appendix out two years ago so we knew it wasn’t that...
They can only find one kidney... and apparently she has a severe infection in it... She needs to be hospitalized NOW... Poor Heidi got home just this morning... and I don’t think she has had time to really unpack... She accompanied the family to Keiden’s pediatrician... and now to the children’s hospital to try and get her into emergency... they say the hospitals are saturated right now... and it might be a fight to get her in... but the doctors all agree that this is urgent...
Poor Dayana is in a lot of pain... and she is very scared... pray that there will be room for her at the hospital.... that the doctor’s will have wisdom to know what to do... and that there will be the funds to cover the expenses...
Her mom and stepdad (Elio) have been having very, very serious problems in their home... pray that this will help them realize what is important in life... and resolve their problems...
2. After leaving Adela and Dayana at the ultrasound place... I went to a meeting about our place at the International Fair... We’ve been participating in this 10 day fair for the last 8 or 9 years... it offers our students the biggest sales of the year... Everyone has been working hard preparing for it... and are counting on the money they are going to earn... I knew that there were a lot more people wanting a free space this year... but I’ve been phoning and going by the office of the people who organize the free pavilion to try and get my foot in the door...
Well... I was sick... In all of its existence, this has been a “Charity Pavilion”... This year (having secret meetings without us “old timers” present) they have changed the name to “Neighborhood Committee Pavilion” and they have left out all of the charities (They scare people away because they think they are going to have to give away their money! ...was one excuse I heard in the meeting).
We are now only a week away from the opening of the fair... I didn’t have the heart to arrive at El Jordan to tell people today that we don’t have a space... tomorrow I’m going to go and sit at the Fair’s general manager’s office door... and see if I get a chance to plead with him and see if there is anywhere else in the fair that maybe they can fit us... even if we have to pay something... He is incredibly busy... especially this close to the opening of the fair... Please pray that I will be able to talk to him... that he will remember Medin’s delicious cookies we give him every year... and see if there is a solution to this...
The thing that hurts my heart is that this is the sale that helps our students who are making a real effort get a bit ahead... be able to have a bit of extra for their kids school... food... whatever... I don’t want to see their disappointed eyes... This is an opportunity that makes them feel so proud... THEIR things being appreciated and sold at the huge international fair...
Please pray...
Thank you...
Lots of love... from Corina... for Marco (and Keiden)...
...and Dayana, Adela... and all our students at El Jordan...
