Hi there…

Just a quick update on a couple things… that I need you to take time to pray about…

* * *

Janeth (with cancer) has been in a LOT of pain since last night… It is heart wrenching for Ricardo (her husband) and kids to watch and not be able to help…  She was discharged from the hospital a couple weeks ago because others need her bed more than her…  She lives just beyond the outskirts of a town/city an hour away from Santa Cruz…  She has to walk down a little path and then down a little road to get to a place where she can catch a motorcycle taxi to the place where she can catch a bus to the city…  She is weak and dizzy…

When she came into the city to get the results of one of her tests, she was told she had to pay first… she was alone, couldn’t remember my number, didn’t have any money… and had to go home…  She came back to the city when she had the money… only to find out that paying didn’t let her see the doctor… it just allowed her to make an appointment (for a week later)…

Her appointment was yesterday… we don’t know what the doctor told her… because since she arrived home – tired and in pain - she hasn’t wanted to talk to anyone… beyond saying she doesn’t want to go back to the hospital…

They apparently are planning on taking her to a witchdoctor…

Please say a prayer for her tonight ... pray that she will know the TRUTH… (John 14:6)

UPDATE: August 22, 2013 at 4:30 AM:

I just got a phone call from 11 year old Keila (Janeth’s daughter) and her mom died about an hour ago...  Please, please pray for the family... Ricardo (the dad) Esteven 14, Corina 12 (turns 13 on the 28th of this month), Keila (11), Hayley (10), Cristian (9) and little Glenn (1 year old). I’m going to go for a bit now before my kids wake up...

(For all the dog lovers out there…  The times I went to visit Janeth in the cancer hospital, I would always see a dog at the front door… At night, someone makes him a little bed… and when it’s cold, they cover him with a blanket or dress him in a jacket… and just this past week, his story was on the local news…  He apparently would always accompany his owner to the hospital for her checkups…  A couple months ago his owner passed away… and the dog is still waiting at the front door…  Aww… Am I the only one who tears up about things like this?)

I wrote the other day about Ana María… one of our students who slid back into old lifestyles…  Every time I went to visit her I would only find her kids home alone…  Last week I finally caught her at home… talked with her… and was hopeful that she would make changes, start caring for her kids and come back to El Jordan…  Unfortunately, things haven’t changed…

When Wilma and I went to visit Ana Maria, it was too cold to talk outside… (they only have one room… and I didn’t want the kids to listen to our conversation) so Ana Maria and I sat in my truck while Wilma stayed inside with the kids… Apparently the smells were so bad inside the room that Wilma had to get creative… She went to the corner store to buy some bread and eggs for their breakfast… along with some onions…  She chopped them up for the scrambled eggs… and for air freshener!

Meanwhile, Ana Maria’s life seems to be a battlefield… help join us in fighting for her life in prayer… because we know there is an enemy whose desire is for destruction and death…

Please pray that the Holy Spirit would cause Ana Maria to remember TRUTH… (John 14:26)

Tomorrow (Thursday) there is another hearing regarding the case regarding sexual abuse…  Please pray for TRUTH to reign… (Zechariah 8:16)

Please continue to pray for El Jordan… the workshops… and us!  Pray for us to always love Truth, teach Truth, and reflect Truth…

Thank you so much for your prayers…

Corina (for Marco… Keiden and Marlee too…
